The programs on the LeapPad Explorer are just for kids. Each tablet comes with four applications—Pet Pad, Story Studio, Art Studio, and one more for you to choose. In Pet Pad, kids can create their own pets, new it, and take care of it. Story Studio lets them create their own stories by using words that they write, photos they take, and even using their own voice by recording themselves! Then they can bring all of these elements together. The Art Studio lets children create drawings where they can draw and color on the screen.

The LeapPad Explorer also has more than 100 learning adventures (each sold separately for $24.99). These range from games and puzzles, to activities like digging for dinosaurs, to movie-inspired adventures like Cars, Cinderella, and Star Wars, to Discovery Channel activites, to eBooks. These are interactive games, stories, and activities to help children learn while entertaining them at the same time.

These activities can also be aligned with what your child is learning in school—from reading to writing, math to science, geography to spelling. You can even add your child’s spelling words to the tablet and it will incorporate these words into the games and activities your child will play, increasing your child’s exposure to these words. The LeapPad also customizes the difficulty level to your child’s comprehension and ability and automatically changes the levels as your child progresses in these areas.
