The Vortex Vigilon Disc Blaster shoots small, green discs, instead of the iconic orange darts that Nerf is known for. These discs (and this blaster, in particular) are far-range and high power. They are more solid than the darts, increasing their durability. They also have the ability to ricochet off of other objects, so with practice, you can even work at banking your shots off of walls or any other object. The one difficulty with the discs ricocheting is that they bounce off of everything and can be difficult to find as you try to round up your ammo.

If you’re familiar with Nerf darts, you know that they don’t hurt upon contact. Because the discs are more substantial and are shot with more power, there is a slight sting to the discs—you definitely know when you’ve been hit, but it’s nothing more than a small sting.

Reloading the blaster is a cinch. Simply push the button to release the clip, load up to five discs at a time, and push the clip back up to resume play. With this blaster, you don’t have to take a break from the action just to reload. And you can reload at any time—even with a disc in the chamber. Which means you can have enough for six, rapid-fire shots.

In battle there are a few things to expect with the Vortex Vigilon Disc Blaster. It fires slightly slower than, say a Maverick. But it goes farther than any dart, so if you’ve got the distance, you’ll be able to hit your opponent when they can’t reach you. Because of the long-range shots and accuracy of this blaster, it would make a great role as a sniper.

One other great feature about the blaster is that if a disc ever gets jammed, there’s a disc eject switch which quickly and easily removes the jammed disc letting you reenter the battle quickly.
