Son John Deere die cast metal replicas considered toys for children to play with or collectibles?

My wife and I have disagreement on toys for children this Christmas. Before I met her and she was used to buy her 2 children to metal replicas of tractors John Deere and for them to play. But at $ 25 a piece and I even think that is the way we spend on a toy. I think they are for collectors and people who use in the models and display scale models. She says the John Deere toys, plastic boot and break very easily. What are your thoughts?

Well, I've collected enough of them in recent years and I think it could be either or … depends on how old the children are. I think they are mostly, better for collection, but if you look around at Walmart, they do like matchbox toys, John Deere, which probably would be more suitable for playing with the die cast a typical collection.
